Captain Jerry Frye

Growing up in Northern California Jerry Frye had all of the fishing he could ever want within arms reach. To this day he tells a variety of stories reminiscing on the golden days of California; from the tree he used to hang from to get just the right drift in his favorite hole on Weaver Creek, to the earliest days of salmon fishing at the infamous "Outlet Hole". Jerry has been fishing in the area for over 50 years and has been guiding full-time for over 11 years on the Sacramento and Trinity Rivers. Saying that he is a knowledgable and experienced fisherman would be an absolute understatement. On top of his seasoned hand he happens to be about the nicest guy you could ever meet; there isn't a local on the Sacramento River that hasn't shared a genuine laugh with him over the course of Salmon season.

Jerry specializes in Salmon, Trout, Steelhead and Shad fishing on the Sacramento River out of either his 20 foot Jetcraft or a 17 foot Fishcraft drift boat, as well as drifting on the Trinity river out of a 16 foot Saturn Fishing frame raft for Salmon and Steelhead.

What To Expect

To begin your day of fishing you will be greeted by your guide and welcomed onto the boat for the day. Jacob will have all of the necessary tackle, gear and bait prepped for a great day on the water. Shortly after departing the boat launch there will usually be a brisk morning boat ride before your arrival at the fishing grounds for that day. Once you're ready to wet a line your guide will explain the chosen tactics for the day to ensure everyone will have the very best chance at an action packed day of catching fish. All trips will go on until your daily limits of the target species have been taken or for a minimum of 8 hours. When the day is complete we will be sure to take pictures before cleaning your catch. Jacob will be able to process your fish however you choose; a fillet is the most common choice but it is not uncommon to cut fish into steaks or even perform a simple gut-and-gill job.

Take them fishing!

Growing up on the deck of a guide boat has taught me how great the time spent on the water really can be. We strongly encourage you to bring your children, nieces, nephews, or whoever it may be. Taking kids fishing is by far the best thing about being a guide. It is very rare to see a young person who doesn't enjoy getting out on the water and soaking a line.
