The 2022 inland Salmon season is just a couple days away! We will be in hot pursuit this Saturday, July 16th! Outstanding fishing is taking place just outside the Golden Gate bridge which only means one thing, big numbers of fish are headed towards the Sacramento river system! Lower than typical water levels will surely make for an interesting year but with a little luck it will be one for the books!

Here are some new additions to the 2019 King Salmon lineup. Yakima Baits T-50 and T-55 FlatFish are what I believe to be the best lures on the market. They are by far the most productive lures in my boat!

This feisty jack King Salmon couldn't resist the wide wobble of a custom painted Yakima T-55 Flatfish. The lure was custom painted in my favorite color by Greg Daft of Splatter Dot Customs https://www.facebook.com/splatterdotcustoms/ I have made several orders through Greg with a variety of different colors and he never fails to amaze me.

Richard Nelson did something I believed to only be an ancient myth in the fishing world. He hooked into this big male King Salmon while we were drifting Pro-Cure cured roe. When the fish realized he was hooked he made one of the longest and fastest runs up river I have ever seen out of a Salmon. About half way through the magnificent run I looked over at Richard's reel and there is a stream of smoke/steam coming out from under the spool! After an epic battle we were very fortunate to come out on top.

As soon as the early fall sun gets over head the salmon tend to settle down into the deeper runs and pockets on the river; "Fish Don't Have Eyelids" my father always said with a grin on his face. This means it is time to break out the cured roe and Send it down! Down the gullet that is!!

After catching limits for my father and his good buddy Mont Penland this morning i got the chance to take my great friend Ridge Peterson, of CSU Chico, out for an afternoon mission. We grabbed a couple delicious burgers from the Woodson Bridge Minimart and Deli and we were on our way. We hadn't been Drifting out Pro-Cure Scented roe for 10 minutes and I had this gorgeous little male to the net!
